Putting purpose behind the perspective

FIM Capital

Brief

FIM Capital approached Ashgrove to help raise its profile and strengthen awareness of the business on and beyond its established Isle of Man market.

Founded in 2006, FIM Capital is an independent investment management and fund administration company. It has substantial experience, an established team and a strong track record, but needed a clearer and more distinctive way to communicate these strengths to prospective clients and professional intermediaries.

The challenge was not to reinvent the business, but to give greater visibility and meaning to what was already there. We needed to create a compelling brand proposition that could bring its different services together, distinguish FIM Capital within a highly competitive financial marketplace and support sustained international awareness.

Any new positioning also needed to reflect the qualities that matter most to its clients: independence, experience, personal commitment and the ability to see both the wider financial landscape and the detail that sits within it.

Approach

Our first step was to establish a strong positioning statement that could sit at the heart of the brand and provide an anchor for everything that followed:

With Perspective Comes Purpose.

The idea grew naturally from FIM Capital’s existing bird symbol. A bird in flight sees the wider landscape while remaining alert to the detail below. It gave us a strong visual metaphor for FIM Capital’s ability to take a considered, long-term view while remaining focused on each client’s individual objectives.

“Perspective” speaks to the experience, independence and wider understanding FIM Capital brings to its work. “Purpose” ensures that insight is always directed towards something meaningful: helping clients make informed decisions and achieve clearly defined outcomes.

From this positioning, we developed a distinctive visual language based around elevated, overhead and bird’s-eye-view imagery. The creative treatment provided a consistent thread across the website, advertising, corporate communications and social media, while giving the brand greater warmth and individuality.

We then developed a structured content programme for LinkedIn and Facebook, designed to make the brand more visible, accessible and relevant. Rather than simply talking about services, the content explored FIM Capital’s thinking, expertise, people and perspective on the issues affecting its clients.

This included:

  • Brand positioning and campaign messaging
  • Creative direction and visual development
  • Website messaging and supporting content
  • LinkedIn and Facebook content
  • Corporate and service-led advertising
  • Thought-leadership articles and investment commentary
  • Recruitment, community and people-focused communications
  • Targeted fund administration campaigns
  • Campaign analysis and ongoing optimisation

For the fund administration campaign, we created a phased LinkedIn strategy that moved audiences from initial awareness through to website engagement and lead generation.

The campaign targeted senior professionals across the UK, Jersey and Guernsey, including fund directors, non-executive directors, chairs and professional advisers. Messaging was continually tested and refined, allowing us to identify the themes and formats that resonated most strongly with this specialist audience.

Headlines such as “One size fits no one”, “Specialist depth where it counts” and “When getting it right isn’t optional” helped translate a complex service into concise, benefit-led communication.

Outcome

The work has given FIM Capital a clearer, more confident and more consistent presence across its different communication channels.

The positioning statement has become more than a campaign line. It provides a central idea around which the business can communicate its services, expertise, people and values—creating greater cohesion across the wider brand.

The targeted fund administration campaign reached more than 19,000 relevant professionals and delivered over 137,000 impressions and 37,000 video views. It also exceeded its website traffic objective by 20%, generating 360 landing-page visits against a target of 300.

Video proved particularly effective, achieving a 45% view rate against a typical LinkedIn benchmark of 25–35%. The campaign also confirmed that its most responsive audiences included chairs, non-executive directors and board-level advisers—the decision-makers at the heart of the original brief.

Just as importantly, the campaign generated valuable intelligence for the next phase. It showed which messages attracted attention, which encouraged action and how senior financial audiences prefer to build familiarity and trust before entering a direct business conversation.

In specialist financial services, success is rarely created through a single post or campaign. It comes through sustained visibility, relevant thinking and consistent communication. FIM Capital now has a distinctive brand platform and an increasingly informed awareness strategy from which to continue building its reputation in the Isle of Man and internationally.
